A Certifiable Pigskin Picker

When it comes to winners, Tiffany can sure pick ‘em. Case in point: She married me. Okay, so that was not her crowning winner-picking achievement. This fall though, she is making some very good picks.
...on the gridiron that is.
You heard me right. Tiffany is a certifiable pigskin picker. Each week, someone in our church Bible study group hands out the match-ups for the following NFL and NCAA football weekend. Then we pick who we think the winners will be.
The guy with the most picked winners wins a bag of his favorite candy, as does the girl with the most picked winners. I think the reasoning behind the gender segregation was the assumption that the women would not be able to compete. You know what happens when you assume don’t you?
The guys in our Bible study department are an embarrassment to our gender. I wish I could say that I was not part of this demise. It’s really bad. The girls are skunking us. Last week, in 75% of the participating couples, the wife outscored the husband.
Just this morning, Tiffany told me that I was “dead weight,” that I was “dragging us down.” See, the couple who has the most picked winners at the end of the season gets a free dinner. That’s what we are working towards, and I really think we have a shot at this. According to her count, Tiffany was tied for the lead for this past weekend’s games, and I was two behind her. We are both consulting espn.com and nfl.com each week to determine who has the best chances of winning.
