First Call to Poison Control
By Tiffany on 20 August 2004 the wee hoursCategory: The Boys Today was a big day around our house. I had to call the local poison control for the first time.
Most of you that know me understand how I feel about sunscreen. I have been addicted to using sunscreen since I had melenoma last October. I keep sunscreen in every room of the house, both cars, my purse, and the diaper bag. Well, Caleb found a sunscreen stick in his room today, and he started to eating it. I was nearby, so I was able to stop him after one big bite.
I looked on the back of the stick and read "seek professional help or call poison control immediately if ingested". Thankfully I have the number to poison control posted on every phone, so I called for help.
A nice lady at poison control assured me that Caleb would be fine if I just washed out his mouth good and gave him something to drink. She called back an hour later to check on us. I am happy to report that Caleb is feeling fine.
I wanted Caleb to grow up learning the importance of sunscreen and the dangers of the sun, but today he took the sunscreen thing too far! I think he has seen me put on chap stick too many times and confused that with the sunscreen stick. You never know what is going to happen during the day with a 13 month old.
