First Paid Babysitter

Caleb experienced his first paid babysitter Sunday night. Heather has been using a sitter for several months now that she is really pleased with, and she invited us to share the sitter at their house. It sounded great to me and Andy since we haven't been out alone in two months. We thought it would go great since he loves to play at Rachel's house, and he did love it until all of the adults he knew left. He started screaming, but we were sure he would calm down after a few minutes.
Andy and I feasted on chicken parmigiana at the Olive Garden, and we even shared a piece of raspberry cheesecake. Then we had time to walk around a bookstore. We were feeling full and refreshed as we went to pick Caleb up.
I could tell immediately that it hadn't gone well. The sitter said Caleb cried the entire time. He even cried during a Pooh movie, and he cried while he ate his hot dog and cheese. We felt terrible for putting him through that, but we know we need the time away.
As I write this I can hear Andy saying his prayers with Caleb before bedtime. Andy is telling Caleb how much we love him and that we would never leave him without always coming back. I'm sure we'll use another babysitter some time in the future, but tonight we are all glad to be back together!
