I Don't Want to Share
By Tiffany on 15 October 2004 the wee hoursCategory: The Boys I don't really think of myself as a selfish person especially when it comes to Caleb. I would give him anything...almost anything. I shared my uterus with him for 9 long months and my breasts with him for 11 months. I buy less clothing and accessories now so we can spend that money on toys and clothes for him. He always takes food from me when all of his is gone. That is fine because I'm glad he has such a great appetite. Well it was fine until today.
You may not know this about me, but I have an addiction. Once a week I have to have a Chick-fil-A biscuit or sandwich. Andy and I don't eat any fast food or rarely eat out except the once a week Chick-fil-A. Today for lunch Chick-fil-A was calling me.
I waited in the drive through line for 15 minutes. We made it home and I sat down to eat while Caleb played. I was shocked when Caleb started pointing at my food since he had eaten sweet potatoes, grilled cheese, and diced apples for his lunch. I gave him one bite. This is where I went wrong. He discovered that he is also a Chick-fil-A addict. It must be hereditary. He started climbing up in his highchair to eat. I tried giving him other snacks like goldfish or cheese so I could eat. He only wanted my sandwich. He ate my entire lunch. I sat there trying to be thankful that God gave us a little boy with such a healthy appetite, but all I could really think is I don't want to share my sandwich. Take anything but my Chick-fil-A. I ended up eating goldfish for lunch.
I guess next time I want Chick-fil-A I'll either have to get Caleb a pack of nuggets or see if there is a 12 step program we can both join to end our addiction.
