Pappy and Grandy's Visit
By Andy on 1 June 2005 the wee hoursCategory: Family
We had a great time with my parents this weekend. As luck would have it (if I really believed in luck, that is) Caleb came down with a stomach virus the day before they arrived, but even though he was not at the top of his game, a fun time was had by all.
Mom whooped us all in a game of cards one night.
We took Caleb to ride a vintage 1897 steam engine locomotive. We left the Fort Worth Stockyards for an hour long run towards downtown and back. I'm not sure who loved it more: Me or Caleb?
Dad and I watched the IMax film "Fighter Pilot", and we visited the new Cabela's outdoor store that just opened north of Fort Worth. An hour was not enough time to see everything there. I bought a pair of shoes that I'm loving.
We did a small landscaping project in the backyard.
But the most important thing accomplished was Caleb spend time with his Pappy and Grandy. He woke up this morning asking about them.
Living so far away from home simply reinforces the value of grandparents. We definitely don't take them for granted.
