Softball Time of the Year
By Andy on 7 May 2004 the wee hoursCategory: Personal I decided to play on the church softball theam this year. Last year I played basketball, I wanted to mix things up this year and get back on the softball field. I played for 2 seasons when I lived in Montgomery right after Tiffany and were married and had a blast.
One thing odd about sports different from any other area of a man's life is that you have the green light to slap another man's behind. This strikes me as strange on several fronts. For one, does it really boost your morale and motivate you to play harder whenever another man's hand has been on your behind? Secondly, how weird would it be if we did this kind of thing in other areas of life? You give a knockout presentation at work, and another male co-worker screams wooo hooo and smacks you on the tail. Somehow that is just unmotivating to me.
Anyway, I'm tempted to strike out on purpose just to keep from getting smacked.
