Staying at a Bed and Breakfast

Sorry for the infrequent updates to my journal. Outside of my day job where I'm redesigning Lifetime.org, I'm working on two other web projects. More to come on those in the near future.

But I just had to take a break to tell you about this past weekend. Tiffany's mom came for a visit and insisted we go away for the night. After arguing wiht her for...oh...half a second, we made reservations at The Garden Manor Bed and Breakfast in the historic district of Grapevine, TX. It was my first time to stay at a bed and breakfast.

Here are a few things that make staying at a bed and breakfast a little different then staying at a hotel:

  1. Since you are staying in someone's house, there's an irrestible urge to clean up after yourself more so than if you were staying in a hotel. You just fill weird leaving your used tissues and and towels scattered throughout the room.
  2. The people that come in loud and drunk at 3am may be passing you the muffins at breakfast. So be cautious about how you tell them to "hold it down will ya."
  3. Since you're eating breakfast in a more formal dining area than...say the continental breakfast at Holiday Inn...you have feel compelled to be more reserved in the amount of your breakfast consumption.
  4. You're sharing water-heaters with your fellow guests. So the early bird gets the warm shower.

I'm sure there are more, but you get the idea. We had no complaints about our stay. It was a fun, romantic inn. We had no concerns about how Caleb was doing since he was with his Grandmother.

While on our trip we enjoyed three meals where we didn't have to make airplane noises with green beans or say "good boy" after every bite. We also saw the movie Hitch...which we thought was great.

When we returned, there we had a birthday party for Tiffany...balloons and everything. It was great. We had such a nice time while Tiffany's mom was in town. Too bad Caleb was under the weather for much that time.
