Things I Wonder About Breakfast at Ray's
By Andy on 13 October 2004 the wee hoursCategory: Personal
It's not a fancy place, but every Wednesday, the men from my Sunday Morning Bible Study group also meet on Wednesday morning for breakfast at Ray's (a.k.a. Edgecliff Cafe). The food is really very good...and cheap: 2 huge pancakes, two eggs, and two strips of bacon for just $3. I wonder...
How many times do I have to order that before I can go in and say, "I'll have the usual" without the waitress looking at me funny?
What is the waitress' name anyway? She's really nice and I definitely need to learn her name. I fully expect her to call me "honey" everytime I come in. Strangely, there is something about being called honey by a complete stranger that makes you proud you're a southerner.
How much do you tip on a three dollar meal? It just seems rude tipping only forty-five cents even though that is the standard fifteen percent. Is there some minimum amount you have to get to before you start figuring percentages. I'm thinking there is. It seems like you at least have to put down a single dollar bill for a tip no matter how small your order is.
What is their health inspection rating? Everything looks clean, but I've never been in the kitchen. Not sure I really want to know this.
