This week on "The Bachelor"
By Andy on 19 March 2004 the wee hoursCategory: Personal Well, I have been feeling like a bachelor without my bride and baby boy around. I forgot how much my life revolved around those two. How did I spend my free time you wonder? Except for the night I had a Freebird's burrito with a buddy of mine, I pretty much did stuff like prepare for the weekend ( I'll be a leader in Northlake Baptist Church's youth retreat called Refuge), complete my to-do list which my sweet wife left for me (or basically procrastinate on doing it), watch the "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" on DVD (extended version, of course), and did some geeky stuff like work on the Lifetime.org redesign.
As I said, I procrastinated a bit with my to-do list, and it came back to haunt me...big time. I was expecting it to take me an easy half hour or so to Caleb-proof the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. That's not as easy as it looks. Several things went wrong. First off, I did not have the correct size drill bit, so that delayed me because I had to wiggle and jiggle and schliggle (that last "iggle" was just for dramatic effect) the bit so that it would make a bigger hole. Then my drill ran out of battery life. These child-proof locks are the magnetic locks, so you have to drill a hole almost all the way through the door so that the magnetic key can be within reach of the magnetic field. Well, I went just a tad too deep, and I made a hole all the way through the cabinet door. I feel like such a dough head. Thankfully I found some small wooden pegs that I sanded down and painted with brown shoe polish and crayola markers. You can hardly notice it. Now I need to be getting to bed. It's after midnight, and I've got to get an early start tomorrow.
So that's about the extent of bachelor week. My conclusion is that it is not all that is cracked up to be. I cannot wait to see my sweetheart and Caleb. They fly in on Sunday.
