Antony Flew - Atheist No More

By Andy on 16 January 2008 early morning
Category: What Matters Most

Somehow I missed the news. Antony Flew, a philosopher who is most known for being an atheist has changed his mind.

New York Times Story:
The Turning of an Atheist (Nov. 2007)

He also has a book that recently came out:
There Is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind

His major premise up until now was that he compared God to an invisible gardener. He basically said that what’s the difference between an invisible, intangible, undetectable gardener and no gardener at all.

Apparently, it was the evidence for intelligent design in the universe and especially in the genetic (DNA) code that tipped the scales toward him becoming a theist, one who believes in the existence of god or gods.

He’s still not a Christ follower, so hopefully he will see the evidence of that before he dies. He’s 81 now. That’s still a step in the right direction.

Hat tip: I discovered this by listening to Dr. William Lane Craig’s podcast on Dec. 10th on the Problem of Evil (Download MP3)

  1. If you actually read the NY Times article it becomes clear that Flew, in his advanced age is experiencing diminishing mental faculties, and as such is being exploited by Christians. This is nothing Christians should be happy about.

  2. Andy,

Why do you wish he would find Christ before he dies?

    Just curious is all.
