One of Those Days

By Tiffany on 21 March 2007 terribly early
Category: Personal

Yesterday was one of those days that if I would have known how badly it was going to go I never would have gotten out of bed.

It started bright and early at my six-month melanoma screening. There was a spot on my right forearm that had to go immediately. Now we will wait a week for the biopsy results.

This melanoma thing gets very old. Since I had melanoma almost four years ago I have had numerous places cut off to be safe. My upper body is full of scars. Sometimes I wonder how much more they can cut off. There is never a time when I walk out in the sun and enjoy it. I am constantly thinking about sunscreen and finding shade. Sometimes I think I’m overly paranoid until a day like yesterday when there is another spot that has to go.

Now on to the second doctor’s appontment of the day. Caleb has been coughing since Sunday night, and he sounds like a dog barking. I took him to the peditrician to be safe, and he has bronchitis. He is on so much medicine for the next week, and he hates to take medicine.

Now on to the third doctor’s appointment of the day. Caleb had his follow up appointment from his strabismus surgery yesterday afternoon. My mom and Andy were both planning on going with me. My mom got sick and couldn’t come, and Andy’s office flooded so he couldn’t come either. So Caleb and I took off alone for the Emory clinic which takes an hour in ideal Atlanta traffic.

Caleb got a mixed review at the eye docotr. His eyes are better than they were, but they are not as good as we hoped they would be. His eyes still come out of alignment without his glasses. He does not need more surgery at this point. It would be too risky. However, he will probably always want to wear his glasses to hide the alignment problem. We go back in six months for another follow up appointment.

You can’t imagine how cranky Caleb was after all of the appointments, and I can’t imagine how many germs we were exposed to after sitting in three different doctor’s offices. The day finished off with the barking dog cough all night long.

Hopefully today will be better than yesterday!

  1. Sorry it’s been one of those days. The best part is—tomorrow is a new day! Thank God we get a chance to forget the past and press onward. Hope each day is better than the next for you.

  2. Tiffany, I am so sorry I could not be with you to take Caleb to the eye doctor. You know how much I wanted to be there!

Do not worry about Caleb’s eyes; everything WILL be alright and he will know it!

I hope he is much better and not contagious next week so I can come and see you!

    I Love You!

    MOM
