Self Esteem Builder

The other day Caleb and I were relaxing on his bed reading his new Click magazine. Click is a wonderful science magazine for kids, and it’s always a special treat when we find one in the mailbox. This issue was all about digestion which happens to be one of Caleb’s favorite subjects.

We were reading an article about what astronauts eat and how they use the bathroom while in space. Then we read that astronauts wear a diaper during take off and landing since they can’t get up to go to the bathroom. Caleb’s mouth dropped open and then he said, “Where’s Andrew?”. I replied,” He’s in his room sleeping”.

Caleb bolted off of the bed to run to Andrew’s room. I followed behind wondering what he was doing and praying it didn’t involve waking up a sleeping baby.

I found Caleb leaning over the top of Andrew’s crib saying,” Andrew, did you know astronauts wear diapers just like you do?” I think Caleb was trying to build Andrew’s self-esteem, but Andrew didn’t seem interested, so Caleb and I went back to reading more about digestion.

  1. He is so inquisitive it is amazing!
