Temporary Loss of Sanity

I had a temporary loss of sanity the other day after I cooked a big lunch. To me a big lunch means I messed up a lot of dirty dishes. I opened the dishwasher to start piling them in when I realized someone in my house (I won’t mention any names) forgot to start it after he loaded the breakfast dishes.

I stood there for a second when a question popped into my head. I looked at the counter and tried to figure out which pots I wouldn’t really miss if I threw them in the trash can really fast. Better reasoning then took over, but I couldn’t believe I even considered throwing away my pots.

I know this sounds lazy, but it really had more to do with sanitation. I wash all dishes before they go into the dishwasher anyway. The dishwasher is a second line of protection in my mind.

I am huge clean freak in my kitchen. I go through bottles of kitchen sanitizer. Raw meat makes me crazy. I have an entire process of sterilization I go through when I prepare meat. If I have to use a kitchen sponge then I cut a new one into thirds then throw it away after the first time I use it. Those things are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. I have several scrub brushes that run every time I use the dishwasher so they are always clean. That was the real problem that day. I didn’t have a clean brush to use.

In the end I decided to run the dishwasher while I left the rest of the dishes for later. I am glad looking back on it that nothing ended up in the trashcan.

  1. Ummm…I think that was Caleb who forgot to run that dishwasher because I NEEEEVVVER forget things like that.

  2. I know about you being a bacteria freak about meat in the kitchen, but so am I!

And, I know that Caleb did not forget to turn the dishwasher on!

    Love you.
