Texas Born...Texas Raised

By Tiffany on 2 February 2006 late morning

While pregnant with Caleb, Andy and I both had the realization that our child would be born a Texan. There isn’t anything wrong with that…it’s just really different than our Alabama upbringing. Texans are so full of Texas pride. Almost every house and business out here has a Texas flag…that is weird!

Well, Caleb is really doing Texas proud. He attended his first Stock Show and Rodeo yesterday. Our friend Heather had some free passes for the matinee rodeo. Caleb was willing to miss his nap for the big event.

He loved the rodeo. The fireworks at the beginning really got his attention. He was clapping for every cowboy. He wanted me to explain what every cowboy was trying to do. He loved when the 4 H boys chased the calves around. The bareback bronco competition was his favorite. Rachel was bored after 5 minutes, so we finally gave in and left before the bull riding.

We toured all of the livestock barns and petting zoos. Then, Caleb discovered the Midway. Rachel and Caleb showed no fear as they jumped on all of the rides. I was in shock at how brave he was. He does not take after Andy who throws up on any ride going around in a circle!

He enjoyed the day so much. To top off the entire Texas thing, he asked for a breakfast burrito this morning for breakfast…complete with salsa in it.

One day when I’m old and gray-headed and I pull up to Caleb’s house to visit my grandbabies I won’t be surprised to see a Texas flag in his front yard!
