Vows

9th Anniversary

Tiffany and I celebrated nine years of marriage last week. God brought her into my life while I was a college student in Mobile, AL. Shortly after graduation, we exchanged our vows together.

Looking back, it’s incredible how young we were and how old we thought we were. I’ve never regretted that decision. I’m thankful for the life we’ve made together.

The road to here hasn’t necessarily been easy, but I can honestly say that we are closer now than ever. Don’t get me wrong, marriage is hard work, but it’s worth it. Our idea from the time we first spoke our vows was that this was going to be forever. We still believe that.

There is something to be said for knowing that someone is committed to you to in the good times and the bad…that there is no escape hatch. Without the solid foundation of the vows and the commitment that we made before God though, it’s quite possible that one of us would have bailed. But if we’d done that, then we would have missed out on all that we have now. When you surface on the other side of the hard times, you realize that it was your commitment that led you both into the kind of love that poets write about.

I love her now more than ever. She’s a mighty good catch.
