With a Name like Bear Grylls
By Andy on 18 June 2007 early morningCategory: Interesting
Man Vs Wild is fast becoming my new favorite show. It’s on the Discovery Channel. The character’s name is Bear Grylls. Man, I wish that was my name. I guess having a name like Bear Grylls would increase everybody’s expectations of you wouldn’t it. It’s not exactly a web designer’s name.
They’re calling Bear Grylls the new Steve Irwin, but Tiffany and I decided this morning that while the Crocodile Hunter was incredibly smart in the wild, we would take our chances with Bear.
I’ve seen Bear Grylls…
...Shoo away the vultures to eat raw zebra meat
...Bite the head off a snake and eat it
...Drink the juice from elephant dung
...Catch his shoe on fire while walking with hot lava
...Shimmy up a 40 feet tree
...Throw a stick and knock out a bunny rabbit
...Eat ants, grubs, and other yummy things
...Build a fire in the swamp
...and much much more.
Not to mention he wrote a book called, The Kid Who Climbed Everest.
Another cool thing about Bear. He was once asked, What do you always take with you? He answered, “Flint and striker, so I can light a fire however tough it gets — lifts my spirit always and has often saved my bacon! My Christian faith: high mountains and my time in the military taught me that it takes a proud man to say he needs nothing, and I need my faith. And, finally, a laminated picture of my family tucked inside my shoe.”
Way to keep in mind what matters most!
Oh yeah…Bear Bryant. That’s good name too.

Dude, that’s an awesome testimony. Sort of reminds me of brute like Samson or mountain man like John the Baptist.

And Tiffany found this link to Bear's blog.
